The Evolution of PlantEd
This project began in April 2016 during my undergrad, when I combined my love for food and the environment and started organizing weekly cooking workshops out of my home. These community events brought young people together to cook plant-based meals, spark conversations around factory farming and inspire more conscious choices in the kitchen. Over the course of three years, they also raised over $8000 for non-profits including the David Suzuki Foundation, Just Food, Ecology Ottawa, Penny Lane Sanctuary and 350.org.

Following graduation, I teamed up with a friend, Georgia Fox to try to turn this passion project into a social enterprise and for three years, we ran workshop in person and online once the pandemic hit. As of August 2022, Georgia left to pursue other aspects of her career (yet we still remain best friends!), and I stayed on as the sole lead lead at PlantEd Project, opening up the latest chapter refocused on resources and educational content.

Although the format as changed, the goal of trying to shift mindsets and lifestyles to help the animals and the environment has always remained the same.
ABOUT ME
I'm a 24-year old animal and environmental activist, community builder and owner of PlantEd Project. I went vegan five years ago for the animals and I've loved sharing my passion for this lifestyle through cooking ever since.

In 2019 I graduated from Carleton University's School of Journalism, and have since completed two incubator programs at Invest Ottawa. In 2020, I was named Top 25 Environmentalists under 25 by Starfish Canada for my work in the sustainability field. I've organized and facilitated over 150 in person and online cooking workshops, have helped dozens of people go vegan and hundreds incorporate more plant-based recipes into their weeks.
I work in fundraising at the David Suzuki Foundation and in my spare time I love to write for Sentient Media, road bike and cook.
